My New Baby

I know that a lot of you probably think I'm quite crazy, what with accumulating these dollhouses at record pace lately.  Well, join the club, because just about everyone I know in real life has thought I'm crazy for years!!!  But really, how can you pass something like this up when it practically jumps through the computer at you off of Craigslist??  The answer is not to stalk Craigslist, you say?  Hmmm, maybe I should consider that..., as I am most definitely running out of room for these babies lately!

Well, anyway, here she is!  A vintage Rich Toy Co. Tudor house (thanks, Kim, for helping me identify her!) that I bought from a sweet lady off Craigslist.  The house originally belonged to her mother, but she claimed it as a girl. It was her favorite childhood toy, even though she admits she was quite a tomboy!  Her mother wanted to throw it out with the trash several times, but she saved it time and again, until she decided she had no room for it, and decided to sell it.  I let her know that I would take good care of it, and even sent her a photo of it displayed in my studio, which she was thrilled with!

It came with a handful of furniture pieces, no windows or door, and carpeted floors.

After inspecting it, I realized that the second floor and walls were made from thin plywood that had seen better days.  I'm assuming these were cut and added at a later date, because usually these houses are all masonite, but I'm not sure.  I took it apart to see about refurbishing it.  My wonderful husband must have been in a very good mood, because he cut new floors and walls for me the very next day out of masonite!  I painted the masonite offwhite to match the walls, etc., and put it back together.

When I put it back together, I tried the original floor (in pretty bad shape) on the bottom, and can't decide whether I like it or the repainted new floor better.

Here is the painted floor on the bottom.  What do you think?  Should I use the original or the repainted one?

I had to do some rearranging (the story of my life!) in order to fit her in, but look at how perfectly she fits on that shelf!  She was meant to be mine, I think!

And one last look!  (I'll need to fashion some new windows and a door....)

And just a little more cuteness for this post....

The two dapper young guys started school last week (Riley in 1st and Noah in K)!

And this little girly is home with me until she starts preschool next week!  Then I will be FREE!!! Or at least for three mornings a week- ha!

Hope you're all enjoying this start to the school season!

Three!

Guess who's three years old today?  Miss Avery!

And she's wearing her sweet little vintage blue dress- I just love it!

She obliged me with a small photoshoot this morning, but wasn't in the mood to do much more than hold her "I'm three" sign!

She's such a character- very opinionated and moody, but just as cute and funny as can be when she's in a nice mood...

...and a real sweetheart at times as well...

 Happy Third Birthday, Avery!

(And just keepin' it real- here's what all the rest of the photos looked like!!)

More for Sale!

I know that a lot of my posts have been about stuff for sale lately.  I'm going through a little clearing out phase, so please bear with me!  I just figure that those of you who read my blog probably are interested in some of the things I'm getting rid of, so I'll give you a heads up!

This week, I've listed these items on Ebay.  Just click on the text below each photo to take you to the link!

And the items below are some of the things I'll be listing within the next couple weeks.  If you're interested in any of them, send me an email and maybe we can work out a deal!  I'd rather do that than deal with Ebay!

And just so that this post isn't JUST about things I'm selling, I'll show you this photo I took last month of the kids.  Every year, I've taken a picture of them on this swing in front of my mother's house- it's fun to see how they've changed!

2010

Hope you're all having a fine end to the summer!  It's sort of flown by for us, but I'm getting to that stage where I'm ready for the kids to go back to school so I can have some space to breathe for a while!!
